Two men were shot and taken to the hospital Sunday night after someone fired gunshots inside a partially open garage in Canyon Country.

The shooting happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. on the 27000 block of Fahren Court, near Jakes Way, when two men inside a garage were shot from the outside as the door of the garage opened, Lt. Rob Hahnlein of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

One man suffered a gunshot wound to his mouth, described as a critical injury.  He is reported to be in stable condition in the hospital.

The other man was shot twice, once in the side of his back and in one of his arms.

Both men, whose identities and ages have not been disclosed, are reported to be in stable condition Monday morning. The victims, according to one official at the scene, are believed to be in their late 20s or early 30s.

“The shots were fired by someone in towards them from the outside.  Both were hit,” Hahnlein said.

“We’re not sure if this gang-related or the result of an argument,” he said. “They (victims) didn’t see anybody.”

Detectives are investigating the shooting.
