Moazzem Chowdhury

Moazzem Chowdhury has lived in the United States for over 25 years and the city of Santa Clarita has been his home for over 20 years. Moazzem, Jeenat, his wife of 30 years, and his son and daughter all consider themselves blessed to live here.

Moazzem has a Masters of Pharmacy degree and received his California pharmacist license in 1993. He gained vast experience as a pharmacy manager and staff pharmacist for national retail chain pharmacies such as Rite Aid, Walmart, K-Mart, and Longs Drug.

Currently, he owns and operates two pharmacies: Desert Drug Pharmacy (formerly Medicine Shoppe) in Canyon Country, and Desert Drugs in Lancaster. Newhall Pharmacy in Newhall and Crown Valley Pharmacy in Acton are also currently under his management. He has had many opportunities to work with the city when opening his pharmacies and other businesses, and his business expertise in the Santa Clarita Valley gives him insight into the local business climate.

Over the years as a local pharmacist, he has made it his special interest to support the health of people in the Santa Clarita Valley. In particular, he has been a driving force in ensuring that each year people in the community have a place to receive their annual flu vaccinations. He was also a fixture at the senior center and local health fairs, always willing to extend his pharmacy knowledge and services to elderly people in need.

Additionally, he has worked tirelessly as an entrepreneur and has organized international and local multi-cultural events. As the founding member and Chief Advisor of LHCM Foundation, he has implemented international relief efforts in Bangladesh to improve the lifestyle and health of thousands of people living below the poverty line in that area.

Locally, Moazzem has been involved in philanthropic, social, and charitable events. Because he believes in the importance of an international exchange of knowledge, every year he takes an instrumental leading role in working with California State University, Northridge, College of Humanities to promote awareness and education in arts, literature, and culture.

He helped several aspiring pharmacy students through his internship and scholarship program, all of whom have graduated with high honors and are now Pharmacists themselves.

Assisting local small business owners through his personal training program, he guided and provided them the expertise in acquiring, opening and sustaining a small business.

Moazzem Chowdhury is running for city council to further promote the city of Santa Clarita as a safe, beautiful, family-centered, business friendly, premiere city. As a public servant, his new leadership and fresh perspective will boost this city’s vitality.

He started his first business from the ground up over 17 years ago. Though it was not always easy, he was forever optimistic about his future in Santa Clarita and knew this was his home for life. He is living proof that hard work and fortitude pay off with consistency and commitment, and he will bring these positive aspects to the City Council.

Vote for Chowdhury on April 8, 2014.
