Scott Wilk, right.

Scott and Vanessa Wilk have made Santa Clarita Valley their home for nearly 25 years, and last year, he was honored to be elected to the 38th Assembly District.

California, for the first time in many years, has a balanced budget, and Scott worked in a bi-partisan coalition to support Governor Jerry Brown’s budget over the more fiscally imprudent alternative. He supported a new school funding formula, which provides greater flexibility and an increase to local schools. Also an advocate for small business, Scott received a 100 percent rating from the California Chamber of Commerce.

On local issues, Scott has been a vocal critic of Brown’s High Speed Rail Project (HSRP). Not only is this project afinancial boondoggle for California taxpayers, it would be disruptive to numerous neighborhoods in Santa Clarita.

Scott has defended SCV ratepayers against the draconian actions taken by the L.A. Regional Water Quality Control Board to compel SCV to reduce chloride in the water. This unelected board is forcing residents to burden the $130 million capital cost and $4.1 million in annual operating costs to discharge water in a better condition than we receive from the State Water Project. Frustratingly, there is no sound science to support their action, and Scott will be introducing legislation later this year requiring water boards to have scientific data to justify board actions.

When not in session, he is dedicated to listening to constituents and visiting schools and local businesses. Scott believes in educating our future leaders, and he encourages students to take an active role in the political process.

Scott has worked to find creative ways to dialogue with residents through his Community Coffee and Walking with Wilk programs.
