Chiropractor Linda Chenaur sits in her office.

With 22 years in practice, Dr. Linda Chenaur is creating a new standard for helping people in the community solve their back pain problems.

At Valencia Spine & Nerve Institute, Chenaur founded her practice to “relieve pain, restore and revitalize the life force, enhance consciousness, and promote longevity.”

Specializing in Spinal Decompression, Chenaur uses alternative methods to help her patients and keep them away from risky medical operations.

“I’ve been doing a lot of spinal decompression, keeping people away from surgery and drug-free,” Chenaur said.

For Chenaur, helping patients with back problems avoid surgery is important.

“Drugs are hard on your body,” Chenaur said. “The stress on the body, sometimes people come out of surgery and they’re not quite the same. They don’t have as much energy, their bodies are exhausted from the actual stress from the surgery.”

Numerous statistics show that the success rate of spinal surgery is 50 to 60 percent, whereas spinal decompression is upward from 80 to 90 percent.

“Spinal decompression is a means of pulling the vertebrae apart to create a vacuum so that the disc is replaced and repositioned,” Chenaur explained.

A lot of her patients have researched the procedure and its outcomes.

“Most people, by the time they come to me, have researched, or they’ve had friends who’ve had surgeries and it wasn’t so successful,” she said. “They’re trying to avoid surgery.”

Another downside about surgery is the amount of rehabilitation time it requires, she said.

“They say a few weeks, but I think people are really not themselves for months after surgery,” Chenaur said.

“Where as you don’t have to lose any work or go through problems with spinal decompression.”

Before proceeding with this method, Chenaur does a complete evaluation.

“I do a complete orthopedic and neurological exam,” Chenaur said. “I look at MRI reports, radiological findings and complete examinations of the patient. Then I determine whether they are a good candidate for spinal decompression.”

Once patients are determined as eligible, they can begin the treatment program.

“The treatment program is comfortable and relaxing,” she said. “We have a very relaxing environment.”

Once the treatment program is done, patients can follow up with Chenaur.

“Patients tend to come back for maintenance,” she said. “The patients usually choose to be proactive, and want to take care of their health as they go on in life.”

Some patients even choose to come back for Chenaur’s holistic treatment methods.

“They come back just as a holistic care patient because we offer alternatives to drugs and surgery for your overall health,” Chenaur said.

Chenaur and her Valencia Spine & Nerve Institute are successful at treating chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, viral infections, Attention Deficit Disorder, and other situations that western medicine doesn’t treat very well, she said.

Chenaur’s goal for 2014 is to continue helping out the community and boasts about her positive success rate.

“I’ve had lots of people come to me that we are so much more gentle here,” she said.
Chenaur credits her “gentleness” to her style of adjusting.

“There are numerous styles of chiropractic, and people have had bad experiences,” Chenaur said. “They’ve felt pain, or they thought it was just scary. So my adjustments are very gentle and very, very specific which results in a better experience and faster healing.”

Part of the positive experience and benefits are because of full-body treatments.

“I treat the whole body, not just the spine or the symptom,” Chenaur explained. “Even though I’m going to do spinal treatments, I’m going to talk about diet, anti-inflammatories, things like that.”

Chenaur not only helps adults, but children as well.

“The more people that are healthy, the happier they are going to be,” she said. “I especially like helping the kids make healthier choices as they are growing up.”
