The SCV Education Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist students improve their reading skills in local public schools and after school.

You will have an opportunity to impact a child’s life and gain a new friend while instilling the love for reading.

As a Read With Me! literacy volunteer, you will work with students to assist with improving reading skills such as word accuracy, fluency and reading comprehension after school and/or in the classroom at local public elementary schools.

With your assistance, students will improve their reading skills and confidence. You will have the opportunity to impact a child’s life, gain a new friend and enjoy the experience of giving back.

The after-school program focuses on the fun and enjoyment of reading while building confidence. Volunteers are required to attend an orientation. This session runs eight weeks, on the same day each week.

In the classroom, volunteers will work the same time and day each week in the same classroom. The program does not run every week.

Directions and guidelines are provided, as well as materials for after school.
