Hundreds of thousands of people drive up the freeway and exit at Magic Mountain Parkway, never knowing the beauty of the surrounding area.

Nature photographer John Glass captured a moment of the natural magic of Santa Clarita Valley and is sharing it in his new Kindle book “How to Visit LA When You Live in LA.”

First in the series “Hit the Road with John Glass,” this book is a travel book and a photo book, as well.

It has been meticulously formatted for high-quality images, which display in a full page on a Kindle e-reader, a first for such kindle books.

Glass, a resident of Southern California, loves to travel and take outdoor nature photographs of his favorite places to share with others.

In the first half of his life, he spent weeks of every year in the wilderness, hunting and fishing throughout the Western states. Now he shoots several times a month in the outdoors with his Canon cameras.

With 32 photos ranging from Glendale to Malibu, San Marino, Pasadena and Big Bear, as well as Santa Clarita and Vasquez Rocks, each photo location can be accessed in the book through links to Google Maps. They also offer a downloadable PDF of all the links to use to locate each site on a computer, smartphone or tablet.

This book was edited by his wife Jean Dale Glass, who accompanies John on his photo journeys.

“This particular day, John had gone golfing and was returning along the 126 from Ventura. He was very excited to show me his find as soon as he got home. Santa Clarita Valley has some of the most amazing places,” Jean said.
