My mother made an indelible impression on me because she gave me the most valuable tool a parent could give a child, love and confidence.

We didn’t have much but my mother Louisa Conde Perry worked extremely hard to make sure my brother and sister and I were well fed and always had clothes on our backs and had a roof over our heads.

My mother taught us that no matter what you do, always try to be the best in whatever you do. Think Positive, associate with positive people, never ever do any drugs.

She always made sure my siblings and I came first.

My mother was my foundation in life and she taught me that there are good and bad in all people. She always said “stay with the good and walk away from the bad.” Those are the values I use in life and share with my kids every day.

While I have been very lucky to have many mentors who have given me love and opportunity. my mother set the stage for my journey.

She always said I would do well and told me to always work hard and to also brush my teeth and save a little and go to church.

She was full of wisdom that one cannot get from Harvard or a prestigious college. My mother had great insight on life. She was an amazing mother.

Although I will admit I myself am not a perfect parent, I made sure to marry a woman like my mother and my brother did as well.

My role in my family is to be the provider and my wife is the perfect wife, mother and keeper of the home. Therefore I have a great balance unlike in the case of my mother who played the role of father, mother and friend – and she did an outstanding job.

I married up because I wanted to find a perfect woman like my mother that’s why I married Paulina Perry, my wife of 23 years. Although my mother never met my wife because she passed away one year before I met Paulina, I feel my mother brought Paulina to me and there is no doubt she approves of her.

Therefore my mother Louisa Conde Perry made an indelible impression on me.
