St. Stephen’s Episcopal church will hold the fifth annual Pysanky making class 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 10 in Spurling Hall.
Artists Barbara Wampole and Olga Kaczmar will be the instructors.
Psyanky are Ukrainian Easter eggs using the wax and dye method.
Mothers customarily passed on this ancient tradition to daughters a few weeks prior to Easter.
This class is free and open to all.
Bring a dozen or half-dozen raw, room-temperature eggs.
Wax won’t adhere to chilled eggs.
Utensils and tools for applying the wax will be provided.
Those who have their own tools are encouraged to bring them.
The class was very popular last year and there is limited seating.
Topics covered in the class include: tool demonstration, pencil & dye explanation, the waxing process, dying the egg, and removing the wax.
All crafty persons are welcome to attend.
