Supervisors approve $1 million for roads near Acton

Los Angeles County supervisors agreed this week to spend $1 million to install new signs, markers, road striping and guardrails on Angeles Forest Highway near Acton.

The new installations will be placed between Sierra Highway and Angeles Crest Highway.

Money for the installations comes from the road construction budget for the county’s Fifth Supervisorial District.

Pretty sure that section of road didn't cost $1m to build let alone paint, guardrail and put up some fancy new signs.

Good work if you can get it. Better if you hold the contract for it.

It would be nice if they saved a couple of bucks and redo Sierra hwy north of Fox Feed. Last time they did it probably about 15 years ago the road was ripped up for water lines within 3 - 6 months. Or how about the fast lane of the I5 west of the 170?

Probably could have been done for way less had the County maintained the road it should have. When was the last time you saw the County chip seal a road, or repave it before it started to crumble and damage the base? They would rather spend 3 times as much rehabilitating it after it can't simply be repaved, then cry about the cost. Antonovich is another that needs to be shown the door.
