LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles County Superior Court says it will have to eliminate 511 jobs by late June as part of a sweeping effort to cut its budget by $85 million.

Presiding Judge David Wesley said Thursday that with those cuts, the court has lost 24 percent of its employees over the last four years.

Officials say state funding cuts over the last several years has forced the court to reduce its annual spending by $110 million.

The court says it also plans to close eight regional courthouses and eliminate its alternative dispute center, which provides arbitration, mediation and settlement conference as an option to litigation.

Wesley said the cuts will result in long lines and travel distances that may deter people from seeking and getting the justice they deserve.

As future jurors of the San Fernando Court, we could all donate our $5 per day income back to the court and that way we wouldn't need to report all of that income on our taxes. We can still keep the .35 cents per mile, one way only, mileage reimbursement. And remember they are providing microwaves for our convenience. lol

"...may deter people from seeking and getting the justice they deserve."

Who the heck is getting the justice they deserve?! Certainly not the criminals, which by extension means their victims aren't getting any justice either.

Look, the Democrats are never going to agree to punishing criminals. So as long as they own the state legislature and the Governor's office why even bother with these sham courts? Anyone convicted is just "re-aligned" back on the streets.
