Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies were searching Wednesday for two men believed involved in an assault in Canyon Country. The weapon was reported as a piece of bamboo.

Sheriff’s Station Lt. John Rush said no details were available initially on the nature of the weapon used, and victim’s injuries were minor, a Fire Department official said.

The assault was reported about 4:15 p.m. in the parking lot near 24 Hour Fitness on Via Princessa near Highway 14, Rush said.

“Two guys were fighting near the 24 Hour Fitness and one guy assaulted the other with a piece of bamboo,” he said. No other details were available on the weapon, he said.

The alleged attacker and a second man fled in a Chevy Silverado, he said. The driver was described as a Hispanic man, 25 to 30 years old, six feet tall and about 185 pounds with black hair.

The other suspect was described as a white man, about the same age, same height and weight, wearing a white T-shirt and blue shorts.

At 4:18 p.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics were dispatched to the incident, said Inspector Bernard Peters. The victim was not taken to the hospital, he said.

Hispanic is not a physical description is it? Originally it was short for "Hispanic surnamed" and used to separate white people from other white people. Do they mean "Latino"?
