County and city officials gathered at Hart Park in Newhall Monday to dedicate the $1 million fence erected around the park. Workers spent nearly six months replacing its old chain-link fence with one made of stucco pilasters and wrought-iron fencing. Accompanying the new fence is additional landscaping as part of an ongoing effort to beautify the front entrance to the park, which was donated to the county by silent film star William S. Hart. Along with the fence, the park has added weather-proof poster board displays and an electric marquee to better advertise events in the area, said Norm Phillips, superintendent of the park.

A fine upgrade for our historic park and it's adjacency to Veterans Plaza. Great job!

Love the electronic marquee! great distraction to all drivers. And texting is illegal?

What a scam they could have put vines to grow on the fence to make it look better.
Obviously someone's out of work brother got the contract

I'm with most of you... The county spends $1 million on a fence, but lets the criminals out of jail early because they don't have the money to house them? What a waste of our money!

to CMS96.. the marquee is for the drivers to read when they go around the new roundabout... while they are texting..
