“Light Slam” kicks off a new feature in Newhall on Thursdays — the first in the “Art Slam” monthly free events centered on live music and art displays.

“Light Slam” runs 7 p.m.-11 p.m. this Thursday, launching the season of activities Thursday night in downtown Newhall around a theme of light.

The new “Art Slam” series will run the first Thursday of each month, part of Santa Clarita’s efforts to transform downtown Newhall into a thriving arts and entertainment district.

Singer Lily Wilson and her Dream Band will perform at Railroad Café at 8:30 p.m. Participating artists will be displayed at various businesses along Main Street.

“Light Slam” will be at the corner of Lyons Avenue and 9th Street. For more information, contact arts and events Supervisor Jeff Barber at 661-250-3779 or visit www.ThursdaysatNewhall.com.
