A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon following a traffic collision in Canyon Country.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sunday, officers with the California Highway Patrol received a cellphone call from someone reporting a collision between a motorcycle and a car on Sand Canyon Road at Highway 14, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Bernard Peters.

“The call came from a cellphone to the CHP,” he said.

At 1:29 p.m., Fire Department paramedics were dispatched to the crash site in front of In-n-Out Burger on the south side of Highway 14, he said.

A red Kawasaki KLR650 motorcycle and a four-door burgundy Kia collided in front of the restaurant.

A man, identified by a deputy of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station as the motorcyclist, was taken by paramedics with undisclosed injuries to the hospital at 2:10 p.m.

The bike sustained damage to the driver’s right side.

The car had damage to its driver’s door and the passenger door on the driver’s side.

Two women, identified by the same deputy as the car’s occupants, were not hurt in the crash, he said.

I am not sure. Was the CHP notified by cellphone?

Thank you Jim for putting the car colors back in. This could have been a lot more serious if the colors were different.

RoosterBooster: Posted: March 3, 2013 10:04 p.m.

Yes, I am glad the colors did not clash that would have been a Jake's Way type faux pas, and that is illegal in Sand Canyon.

“The call came from a cellphone to the CHP,”
It was one of those smart phones that can talk and report traffic collisions. The cell phone was helping out the Rooster who either witness or caused the crash, who was too flustered to crow about the accident.

"was taken by paramedics with undisclosed injuries"
If the paramedics had undisclosed injuries why were they working?

"The bike sustained damage to the driver’s right side."
Bummer. Bike's drivers side are way more expensive than Bike's passenger side repairs.

You guys are brutal. Funny, but brutal nonetheless.

whitelig: Posted: March 4, 2013 1:06 a.m.

So, would the driver's side of the bike be the front??

sreilly11: Posted: March 4, 2013 1:19 a.m.

Man! Rooster really gets around this town doesn't he!

whitelig: Good question........now if this bike were a Harley and given the way the Harley people ride (far back on the seat) the back could just be the drivers side.......lol

Vtown123: Posted: March 4, 2013 1:38 a.m.

Whitelig, if you read the article, it says the drivers right side. If you're going to try and make a wise crack, at least read the material.

I hope the motorcyclist turns out to be ok. That's a very dangerous section between the wash and the freeway - people drive very erratically through there.

sreilly11: Posted: March 4, 2013 2:16 p.m.

whitelig - I thought you were funny!!!

ohhyaa: Posted: March 4, 2013 3:18 p.m.

If the motorcyclist flew over the handle bars just prior to the impact, would the damage still be on the driver's side?

ohhyaa: Posted: March 4, 2013 3:34 p.m.

Having been thrown from the motorcyle just prior to it's impact with the burgundy Kia, the motorcyclist was able to take pictures of the looming crash with his smart phone. Being that he was not sure of his injuries, as they were still undisclosed, he quickly forwarded the pictures to the CHP Officer at the scene.

Please tell us Rooster wasn't responsible for this.........did he pull one of the "Hit and Fly" routine or was he a witness (like I want to believe) and finally find his Cock-a-Doodle, Doo voice?!?! I don't think Rooster crow?!?!

WRexHole: Posted: March 4, 2013 10:09 p.m.

Quoting the Gideon's bible I borrowed from Motel-6: "Jesus said "Before the cock crows three times one of you shall betray me." Yes, roosters do crow.
Do you know the difference between a rooster and a cock?
Its not Chicken MCNuggets.

sreilly11: Posted: March 4, 2013 11:26 p.m.

Well thank you very much for the Rooster talk education......

whataplace: Posted: March 5, 2013 10:54 a.m.

Although you guys are funny, I for one do want to know the colors of the cars involved. I am always trying to see if one of the cars belongs to someone I know or love.

ohhyaa: Posted: March 5, 2013 1:52 p.m.

Thank God that one car wasn't White and the other RED. Can you imaging the indistinguishable PINK scuffs and scrapes that would have been created? We would have needed CSI to come and investigate the scene.
