Man arrested for possession of cocaine, meth and Viagra

Two deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested a man early Friday after a search of his car unearthed large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine, a Sheriff’s Department official said.

While patrolling the parking lot of a bowling alley in the 21600 block of Soledad Canyon Road, two deputies made contact with the man sitting in his car, according to a department news release.

Deputies determined the man had a felony warrant out for his arrest and was an early parolee under realignment, a 2011 law that permits the state to take prisoners whose offenses were deemed non-sexual, non-violent and non-serious in nature and place them in county jails instead of state prisons.

Some of those prisoners were subsequently released under the supervision of county probation department employees.

During a search of the suspect’s vehicle, deputies reported finding large amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as baggies filled with more than 20 unknown types of pills, according to the news release.

Deputies also recovered baggies containing more than 900 pills of Viagra, an erectile dysfunction medication, according to a release.

Along with the pills, deputies reportedly found six cell phones, a webcam, a car stereo and speakers, and two replica firearms.

The man was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance for sale and receiving stolen property. He was also held on the outstanding warrant and booked without bail.

The arrested man was identified as 27-year-old James Deroze of Arleta.

He had a perfectly good reason for having the Viagra at bowling alley. His bowling ball had only one hole, and he was there to work on his delivery, release, and spin.

We blame anything and everything on the Governor (and he does share the blame in that he signs all bills into law) but there's never any mention of the CA State Legislature. THEY are the ones who originated AB109, passed it, and sent it onto the Gov for signature.

I admire the Sheriffs Deputies for continuing to do their job in spite of the seeming hopelessness of law enforcement in a "catch 'n' release" state. I wonder how much longer it will be until they say "eh, why bother?" and leave us to our fate?
