LOS ANGELES COUNTY — During the month of January, Los Angeles County D.I.S.A.R.M. officers arrested 98 probationers, and confiscated 49 firearms and over

$800,000 in illegal drugs and drug money, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

In conjunction with local law enforcement, 937 searches were conducted of probationers who, as a condition of probation, are subject to unannounced searches targeting guns, drugs and other contraband.

Since its implementation in February of 2000, the D.I.S.A.R.M. program has seized over 9,100 weapons and more than $465 million in illegal drugs and drug money and resulted in over 18,000 arrests. Nearly 10 percent of probationers searched in this program have been found to be out of compliance with the terms of their probation.

D.I.S.A.R.M was initiated by Supervisor Antonovich following the tragic August 1999 shootings at the North Valley Jewish Community Center and the murder of a postal worker by Buford Furrow, an armed felon on probation from Washington State.

Kinda funny considering all the articles from the Signal that aren't vetted!

"It may appear subsequently in news stories after it has been vetted"
They are speaking prospectively, saying it MAY happen. Not that it DID, or ever really WILL happen in our lifetimes. It is entirely possible that a respected news organization could take over the Signal, bring in competent management. Fire all reporters who fail tests on using Spelling and grammar check, Gregorian calendar, TOEFL, CAT Scan activity detection, and proctologist screens for cranial-rectal-fecal impaction of not-so-wisdom teeth. Then hire qualified and experienced reporters, and, then hire editors to review their output. THEN, they can start to "vet" whatever it was that came out of a Buck or MA orifice or other equally reputable garbage can.

Averaging over 8,500$$ per search. Interesting.

In fishing this is called catch and release. You release them alive so that you can catch them again later. What we really need with these folks is a good old fashioned Fish Fry!

In the old days those 49 weapons would have been destroyed. These will be confiscated by Eric Holder, "gun walked" (gifted) to the Mexican Drug Cartels, and then re-sold to these same criminals who will pay for them with money stolen from the rest of us.

Our government, hard at work.
