A state inspector died on the campus of a Santa Clarita Valley high school Tuesday.

A state inspector on the Canyon High School campus for a daily inspection of football field renovations Tuesday died suddenly, said Gail Pinsker, spokeswoman for the William S. Hart Union High School District.

An employee of the California Division of the State Architect, the man’s name was not released.

A Los Angeles County Fire Department official confirmed paramedics were sent to the scene on a medical call around 11:50 a.m., but no further details were available.

“We did provide some assistance, but there was nothing to be done for the patient,” said a firefighter at Fire Station 128.

Campus officials locked up the parking lot at Canyon where the man had died. Sheriff’s Department investigators were on the scene around 12:30 p.m., with yellow caution tape roping off a large portion of the parking lot.

Sheriff’s Department personnel were working next to a large black truck parked in the lot that had a green tarp covering the driver-side door.

Neither homicide detectives nor county coroner’s investigators were sent to the scene. A Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station official said the death appeared to be by natural causes and a physician could be authorized to sign the man’s death certificate.

News of a sudden death on a Santa Clarita Valley high school campus drew immediate attention due to reports of online death threats against students circulated last weekend. One student was arrested in connection with that case.

The Canyon High football field is expected to be finished and ready for its final inspection within a few days, Pinsker said.

That's sad... go to work one day, and your whole life changes - and the lives of your loved ones.

It has been non-stop. Just insanity everywhere. So sorry for this gentleman and his family.

I'm confused.... Why does SCVNews report "The auditorium project is in the very early stages, Pinsker said" while the Signal reports "The Canyon High football field is expected to be finished and ready for its final inspection within a few days, Pinsker said."
