A man was found with his throat slit inside a Valencia business’s bathroom Thursday, Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives said.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded around 11:30 a.m. to a business in the 24900 block of Avenue Kearny in the Valencia Industrial Center on a report of a man found dead, said Lt. Rob Hahnlein.

“Workers found him inside a business on Kearny,” Hahnlein said. The body was in a bathroom and the throat was apparently slit, he said.

The victim was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, but he was pronounced dead there, the lieutenant said.
“At first it appeared this was a suicide but now we’re thinking maybe there’s something more to this,” Lt. John Corina of the LASD Homicide Bureau said.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were dispatched to the scene on reports of a man stabbed to death, and a Coroner’s Department spokesman said investigators from that department were also notified.

At 4 p.m. Thursday a homicide detective, clipboard in hand, was seen emerging through the front doors of a business at the location called Exclusive Coatings.

Detectives had not examined the dead man’s body as of 6 p.m. Thursday, but planned to do so, Corina said.
An employee of Exclusive Coatings found the body, according to Corina, who added that detectives were planning to interview the company’s workers.

“We’re not answering any questions right now,” said a woman who answered the phone at Exclusive Coatings at 4:20 p.m.

According to public records, the business is owned and operated by Mark Kier, who is president of Exclusive Powder Coatings Inc.

Exclusive Coatings has been operating successfully in Valencia for 15 years, the records indicated.

On its front door were stenciled three Old Testament Bible references: Deuteronomy 8:14, Numbers 14: 8,9 and Leviticus 26: 1-13. The references call for remembering God and following his commandments.

How awful. If this is suicide, Since he had posting from Leviticus on at his business, the bible in Leviticus 16 shows how to offer a sacrifice (scapegoat) on the day of atonement by slitting the throat of the offering (an animal, except in the case of Abraham)to cover ones sins.

I have never heard of anyone committing suicide by cutting their own throat, I find it highly unlikely this was a self inflicted injury.

"I have never heard of anyone committing suicide by cutting their own throat, I find it highly unlikely this was a self inflicted injury."

There was an incident in Phoenix when I was a teenager where a guy walked in to a pawn shop, was checking out tools, plugged in a Skilsaw, pulled the guard back on the blade and proceeded to cut off his own head.

Don't think for a moment that people can't do all sorts of things to themselves.

This is a trippy story. I guess we'll have to wait for details...but it is odd the PD left the scriptures for us to decipher???

Unreal has the wrong verse in Leviticus its Chapter 26: 1-13 not 16 . The other two are Deuteronomy 8:8-14 and Numbers14:8 & 9. These Verses have nothing to say about cutting a throat or sacrifice .
