Just six riders remain in the Six Flag Magic Mountain Colossus marathon.

As of 3 p.m. today, those six riders had clocked just over 30 hours on the wooden roller coaster and had completed about 300 rides, averaging between six and eight cycles per hour.

“I’m feeling very tired and excited that it’s almost over with,” said Bryan Ruef of Mission Viejo. Ruef was one of four men and two women left on the ride with six hours left to go.

Twenty-four riders began the marathon Monday morning.

Scheduled maintenance took place on Colossus last night, and riders were shifted to Magic Mountain’s Apocolypse roller coaster for three hours to give Colossus, which has been operating for 36 seasons, a break, a theme park spokesman said.

Everyone still left at 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening will receive season Gold Passes to all Six Flags parks, which includes special Bring-A-Friend passes and parking.

None of the remaining six plan to quit now, they said.

“There’s really no reason (to quit) now. We’ve already battled through everything else,” said Jo Beth Wagner.
