Two people were transported to the hospital Friday following a crash involving a big rig on Interstate 5 near Quail Lake Road.

The crash took place shortly after 7 a.m. on northbound Interstate 5 and involved at least one vehicle and a big rigm said California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos,

“We don’t know yet what caused this collision; that’s still being investigated,” he said around 11 a.m. “Our units have cleared the scene but they are en route to the hospital for follow-up.”

Two people were injured in the crash and transported to the hospital, according to Inspector Keith Mora with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

One person was transported from the scene by helicopter to a trauma center, he said, while the other was transported from the scene by ambulance.

The crash closed down I-5 lanes in the area for more than two hours, Villalobos said, but the roadway was fully reopened as of 10 a.m.
