One person was injured and taken to the hospital shortly after noon today following a two-car traffic collision involving a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station vehicle, according emergency response crew officials.

The deputy was not injured in the crash, said Lt. Tom Bryski.

Shortly after 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of a crash in front of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital on McBean Parkway near Orchard Village Road, said Inspector Rick Flores of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“We got the call as an auto collision. There were two vehicles with a deputy involved,” he said.

“One patient was taken to a local hospital.”

The crash occurred in front of Henry Mayo.

Bryski confirmed that the patient taken to the hospital was not the sheriff’s deputy and that the civilian was taken there “as a precaution.”

Give us the name of the deputy that was involved in the accident. No doubt he was the cause of the accident. The SCV sheriffs drive around town driving and texting… Grrr SCV Sheriffs rate BOZO's!!

michaelmyers1: Posted: July 31, 2014 10:38 a.m.

I'm taking there was a Deputy involved. They do text and drive all the time and never wait for someone to cross a crosswalk.

src: Posted: July 31, 2014 11:14 a.m.

^ And fail to use directionals.

Hey...wait...they're just like us! Like....just guys/gals doing a job!

NotSoAwesomeTown: Posted: July 31, 2014 11:34 a.m.

Give us the name of the Deputy, why, exactly? For what purpose? Ridiculous.

chefgirl358: Posted: July 31, 2014 11:42 a.m.

What on earth are you people talking about? There is NOTHING in this article that indicates the deputy was the one at fault. Certainly it's possible, but you all jump on the bandwagon of attacking this deputy when he very well could have been a totally innocent victim.

calnca: Posted: July 31, 2014 11:57 a.m.

Chef, Agreed the article doesn't mention fault in this accident, and while I am a big supporter of law enforcement and a ex-MP.....let's be real......a large percentage of the deputies in the SCV DO drive like bozo's, not using turn signals, talking on cell phones, texting etc......speeding in general......gee like they think they are above the law. Makes it difficult to explain to teenage grandkids when I'm teaching them to drive why the local cops don't have to do what I tell them they have to do to be good and lawful drivers.

boneshark: Posted: July 31, 2014 12:45 p.m.

I completely agree with calnca. As someone who has been involved in a major accident with a LASD deputy who illegally ran a red light (without lights or siren on), I know first hand how dangerous these BOZO'S driving habits can be. We all see the same things all the time...deputies ignoring traffic laws, talking and texting on their cell phones and just generally dangerous behavior behind the wheel. So when we read about a deputy involved auto accident, you can be pretty sure it happened because of the way the deputy was driving. So hopefully The Signal will have follow-up stories on this so we can know for sure.

Santa Clarita should form their own police department already.. way overdue.

GuiltFree: Posted: July 31, 2014 2:23 p.m.

Gotta luv the SCVSD... I got a fixit it ticket for a light out over my license plate. As I was being written up... I noted to the deputy that they had a left front headlight out on their patrol car. When I asked for a supervisor to come out to the scene I was told that wasn't possible. I have ZERO respect for these deputies out here. btw 96 dollars to process the ticket. The females are the worst of the deputy lot out here..

GuiltFree: Posted: July 31, 2014 2:28 p.m.

oh, one more thing... we should have them investigated for:
Wasting taxpayer money...

They check in at work in the a.m., and then go to breakfast for an hour

They drive their motorcycles on the paseos where it clearly states no motorized vehicles. Using the Paseos for speedtraps not emergencies.

The covertly go home, park their cars in the garage and "hide-out" for a couple hours a day.

I've witnessed all of this.

bobforte: Posted: July 31, 2014 4:06 p.m.

No, SCV should not form their own PD. That puts the liability on the city and not the county. All lawsuits are paid out through the county.

Guiltfree, you are correct about supervisors. Your best bet is to contact their internal affairs department. We had to do this recently when a supervisor at the station would not listen to a complaint and refused to come out. A quick call to IA resulted in a call and an investigation.

LASD needs to be careful since they are under federal investigation.

chefgirl358: Posted: July 31, 2014 4:07 p.m.

Guiltfree, then file a formal complaint if you have soooo much damaging evidence.

They don't drive motorcycles on paseos, they drive those 3 wheeled things that they obtained specifically for the purpose of patrolling the paseos.

Baddog1: Posted: July 31, 2014 4:25 p.m.

Chef, yes they do. They have done it on Decorro and also on Soledad. I have witnessed it. They use it as a shortcut and a parking area when using Radar.

EgbertSouse4U: Posted: July 31, 2014 5:29 p.m.

bobforte: Curious why other cities like Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, etc. have their own police force and not Santa Clarita. Aren't they just as afraid of litigation as SCV?

SReilly12: Posted: July 31, 2014 10:30 p.m.

Baddog1 - I've seen the Motor Cops up on the sidewalk by the Swap Meet - trying to hide behind the skinny trees - 2 standing, one behind the other, hand on shoulder of Officer in front aiming that radar gun at us - just cracks me up! Ummmmmmmm excuse me, but we all see you :)

DMeyer: Posted: July 31, 2014 11:34 p.m.

News flash, the motor cops in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale and the CHP all hide behind trees, signs or freeway pylons and aim their radar guns at speeders. And even more shocking they also crash their cars on occasion too.

Btw SReillly12, it cracks me up too, they are so obvious.

chefgirl358: Posted: August 1, 2014 2:24 a.m.

Egbert, those cities spend massive amounts on their police forces and guess what, their cops go through LASD's academy and they use LASD's resources like Homicide, Crime Lab, etc., etc. They've had major problems internally and big lawsuits from their employees. We get a great deal and overall really good service from LASD.

johnnyrock: Posted: August 1, 2014 1:56 p.m.

Yep, I see it all the time...

sixsixonestyle: Posted: August 2, 2014 1:30 a.m.

SCV Sheriffs are idiots /hypocrites. Anyone on here thinking differently must be a cop themselves or related to one. Being a cop is no longer prestigious. Boo Hoo, all you Pig Lovers!!

DMeyer: Posted: August 2, 2014 1:52 a.m.

sixsixonestyle=No class. Please go troll elsewhere.

Vulgar name calling is an indicator of character, I wonder what names he uses when he refers to gays and lesbians, African Americans, Asians, Hispanics or people with mental or physical disabilities.

missyJk: Posted: August 2, 2014 3:10 p.m.

@ guiltfree i saw a sheriff car with one headlight while driving one night, i called the station and told them whomever is driving down copperhill past decoro and just flipped a U is missing one headlight...they should check all that out before they leave on patrol...they did find that sheriff that killed that bicyclist in Calabasas or Agoura? was texting right before he hit the man

sixsixonestyle: Posted: August 3, 2014 9:35 p.m.

DMeyer=Sissy... You can dish it out but cant take it... you must be a real loser or cop... If the heats to hot get out the kitchen!

chefgirl358: Posted: August 4, 2014 12:17 a.m.

Sixsixonestyle, cut the crap and obnoxious name calling, you're clearly trolling just to spout your hater views. Just because people don't hate cops doesn't mean they are cops, I am not a cop, but I do appreciate having them around. Normal people who don't do illegal things don't have problems with law enforcement. All you have to do is be polite and respectful...oh yeah, you can't seem to do that. I'll bet you have all sorts of negative history with l.e.

DMeyer: Posted: August 4, 2014 12:35 a.m.

sixsixonestyle is a bully. No doubt a survival trait he learned when he was incarcerated, he must've got put in his place by the guards...which would explain his hatred of law enforcement. He's just not bright enough to figure out that the problem is him. --edited.
