A 22-year-old man arrested in connection with a burglary at a store that sells Airsoft guns was also arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly shooting a man with such a gun earlier the same night, according to sheriff and court records.

Shortly after midnight on June 26, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a burglar alarm at the Airsoft & Hobby World store on Bouquet Canyon Road, near Newhall Ranch Road, in Saugus, according to deputies.

“We arrived at the location and saw the glass of the front door was smashed,” one of the responding deputy wrote in his report.

“Santa Clarita units entered the location to check if there were any suspects inside,” he said. “No suspects were found inside the location.”

Deputies did, however, spot a white Ford Explorer wanted in connection with an assault reported earlier the same night, before midnight on June 25.

When they stopped the vehicle, they spotted Airsoft guns in the backseat and asked the driver about them, they wrote in their report.
At least 15 Airsoft items believed stolen were recovered from the suspect’s car, deputies said, including: four semi-automatic rifles; a rifle with a scope; a semi-automatic handgun; several BB pellets and an orange-tipped gun with a silencer.

Airsoft guns are replica firearms that fire plastic pellets.

The suspect told deputies how he broke into the store by smashing the glass door with his elbow and hand.

“We asked the suspect if he was going to sell the stolen guns taken in the burglary and the suspect told us “That was the plan,” they wrote.

While deputies were investigating the burglary and the alleged discovery of Airsoft guns in the suspect’s car, the suspect told deputies he had been in a fight earlier that evening.

“He admitted to shooting a male with an Airsoft gun at the conclusion of a fight,” deputies wrote in their report.

Deputies noted a cut on the suspect’s right hand but reported they were unsure if he suffered the injury in the fight or the burglary.

“Based on the fact a burglary occurred, the fact the suspect admitted to committing the burglary, the fact the suspect had stolen items in his vehicle from Airsoft Hobby World we arrested the suspect.”

Brandon Michael Spencer, of Canyon Country, was arrested for burglary and assault.

It takes a special kind of stupid. This lowlife was arrested in our neighborhood a few years ago for launching paint balls at people on the paseo from a hilltop. It's great to see he has become exactly what I anticipated he would...nothing but a loser, in fact, he's EXACTLY the same type of loser that he was 4 years ago, still shooting projectiles at people.

This dummy is going to pull one of those fake but real looking guns on the wrong person one of these days and he is going to be dead because of that.

I don't think there are any real guns made of day-glow plastic. This character has a strange obsession. ADW for a gun that can only be deadly if used for blunt force trauma? Strange obsession...

Ricketzz, it's not a day glo gun, it just has a flourescent tip. A lot of people paint over the fluorescent part to make it look real. Most of those airsoft guns look very very real nowadays and he's going to end up being killed by cops or somebody else who believes he has a real gun eventually.

A friend of mine recently bought his wife a hand gun for their anniversary which has a day glow pink handle and other day glow pink items on the gun. At first glance you might think it was a toy, but it's as deadly as any firearm. He bought the pink items in Arizona as I believe it's unlawful to purchase colored firearms in California. I only mention this because if a firearm has day glow colors on it, it does not mean it won't shoot real bullets.

^ Color is one thing that isn't banned here. Color is good because black = more lethal and scary.

His parents must be proud.

First lesson I was ever taught as a young child being taught to shoot. Always assume it's a real gun, and ALWAYS assume it is loaded.

Agreed.....My first lesson was the only unloaded weapon is the one you unloaded yourself......all the rest are assumed to BE loaded. That's what all my kids and grandkids were/are taught

Additionally don't pull a weapon unless YOU are prepared to kill someone.......most gun owners don't have the skill to "just wound" a perp

2 strikes

Unreal: Posted: July 10, 2014 1:34 p.m.

WOW! What a way to make it sound much worse than it is. Not exactly 2 strikes tpaul.

Burglary to steal airsoft guns. Not holding someone up with one.

He got into a fight and shot the guy with a BB as he left. He should be charged with assault but not with a "deadly weapon".

The air soft guns shooting BB's are not lethal!
The kids on my street used to run up and down the street shooting each other with the air soft guns about 10 years ago. They had a blast. No one cried when hit, just got back in the game. It will leave a little welt but that's about all unless you like the "Christmas Story" you "Shoot your eye out".

Granted, we the parents had to replace a couple windows that summer.

Unless this 22 year old has a long record he will do a few months or probation for the burglery and the assault.

The guy is a loser on a fast track to nowhere. I hope he does get 2 strikes!

Additionally, I think air soft guns have come a very long way from what they were when we were kids. These things are capable of shooting a lot of paint balls, very very quickly. Some are fully automatic. So yeah, you might just get welts, but you could have tons of them!

Also, as some of us said above, first rule of firearms is to always assume it's real, and that it's loaded. That said, stunts like this are going to get this idiot or someone else killed and he needs to get hammered hard for this. I'm sure he won't but he ought to be.

My son was in elementary school, one day after school some little punk ass kid shot him and my 2 nephews with bb guns, he was running after them and shooting at them............they hurt. I called the school, made a report and called the cops. The kid grew up to be a stupid little jerk who does drugs and has been in juvy already. shocker.

Johnny, that's horrible. I assume the little s**t was expelled? Zero tolerance for weapons on campus isn't there?
