The Foundation for Children’s Dental Health (FCDH) is closing their doors effective June 30, 2014. The FCDH board of directors is proud to announce they successfully accomplished their mission of changing Santa Clarita “One Smile at a Time.”

The organization is not dismantling due to limited resources, but rather, the need for emergency dental services for local children has substantially diminished.

Over two decades, FCDH impacted many local families and the community is now seeing the result of their service.  By offering Santa Clarita families dental education, preschool fluoride treatments and health screenings, FCDH saw a gradual decrease in pediatric dental decay.

“While this accomplishment is bittersweet, the Board of Directors is overjoyed to see the next generation of Santa Clarita children with healthier and brighter smiles.  It took twenty-one years, but with the support of our community and local businesses, we did it,” commented Vice President Brendie Heter.

In lieu of their annual fundraiser, FCDH hosted a Celebration Dinner on June 14, 2014 at the home of Councilmember Bob Kellar. Bob and Kathy Kellar have faithfully supported FCDH by hosting annual fundraisers and bringing awareness to the issue. The beautiful evening highlighted the organization’s accomplishments, recognized supporters, sponsors and volunteers.

The Foundation for Children’s Dental Health was started in 1993 by a small group of Santa Clarita residents, including Ken Pulskamp, Mary Caravalho and Steve Schmidt who envisioned healthier children and easier access to dental education. FCDH consistently increased assistance to meet the demands of the community and partnered with hundreds of local businesses.  Since inception, FCDH served over 85,000 local Santa Clarita children.
