Members of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to award a contract for construction of an upgraded fire station in Castaic.

The board action gives the go-ahead to build Fire Station 143 in the 28600 block of Hasley Canyon Road in Castaic.
Board members approved a $6.2 million contract with Novus Construction for the station. The revised total project budget is $10.47 million, according to the board agenda item.

The plan is for the new station to have 9,700 square feet of space, including a two-bay apparatus room, main office, day room, kitchen, exercise room and dormitory quarters for seven personnel.

Station 143 would be the second Los Angeles County Fire Station in Castaic. The other, Station 149, is located at 31770 Ridge Route Road.

Station 149 is not expected to be an additional one for the Santa Clarita Valley. The upgraded station would replace another in Castaic, Fire Station 76, which is located on Henry Mayo Drive near Newhall Ranch Road.

This is awesome! Now if we can get them to bring our Sherriff Station out of the 70's this would be great! Not sure what it looks like past the lobby but even if they could just manage that, as far as updating. It looks dirty, gross and so outdated. Stop by and check it out!
