A truck pulling a horse trailer caught fire Thursday on Highway 14 near Agua Dulce but the blaze was quickly doused, halting any spread to nearby brush, a fire spokesman said.

Neither the horse nor the truck driver was injured in the incident, which involved no other vehicles, according to emergency response crew members.

Shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, firefighters were dispatched to the southbound lanes of Highway 14 near Agua Dulce Canyon Road for reports of a truck on fire, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Rick Flores.

“The information we received was that some fire was seen on the undercarriage of a truck,” he said.

According California Highway Patrol officers, the Dodge truck was pulling a horse trailer. Arriving officers found the driver walking a horse near the freeway.

A firefighter with Fire Station 81 in Agua Dulce said the blaze was put out quickly.
