Top-producing commercial real estate brokers in the Santa Clarita Valley were recognized by the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation on Thursday.

Working hand-in-hand with the brokers to help local businesses to expand, or to attract new companies to the region, the Economic Development Corporation chose to recognize the contributions of those brokers who have helped to generate significant economic activity in the region.

Twenty-three brokers were selected for special recognition based on the total number of transactions closed, total number of square feet leased or sold, or the total value of the deals brokered in the region, said Holly Schroeder, president and CEO of the Economic Development Corporation.

The brokers were introduced and recognized at a special breakfast hosted by the nonprofit economic group.

Craig Peters, executive vice president with CBRE and one of the honorees, outlined three new commercial projects set to begin various stages of development and construction as early as this year – the Gateway V, Sterling Gateway and Needham Ranch projects.

Jim Backer, founder of JSB Development, walked the brokers through a mixed-use project he expects to be cleared for development beginning in August.

Vista Canyon, Backer’s project, is slated to be located in the eastern corridor in the city of Santa Clarita, near the Sand Canyon area.

The brokers recognized for helping to catapult activity in the region were Craig Peters, Matt Dierckman, Sam Glendon, Matt Heyn, Doug Marlow, Troy Pollet, Richard Ramirez, David Solomon and Doug Sonderegger with CBRE; Bert Abel, John Cserkuti, Yair Haimoff, Chris Jackson and Todd Lorber with NAI Capital; Nigel Stout and Ryan House with Jones Lang LaSalle; Ron Berndt and Kevin Tamura with Daum Commercial, Tim Crissman with Crissman Commercial,

Kevin Fenenbock, John Erickson and Lorraine Sun with Colliers International, and John Sabourin with Tenant Guardian.
