A jewelry store in Valencia was robbed Thursday, according to an official with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

A sheriff’s sergeant said the incident was reported at a jewelry store on Town Center Drive around 10:05 a.m.

A Sheriff's Station spokesman said details about what was stolen were not available late Thursday afternoon.

The suspect was described as a black male between 25 and 40 years old, with light facial hair and wearing a cap, dark-colored clothing and sunglasses.

The sergeant said the suspect “simulated a weapon,” but no weapon was actually seen during the robbery.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect was encouraged to contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.

Great story. No store name, we don't know what was taken, and a description that narrows the field down to about half a million people. Was he white, black, mexican, asian? ANY details?

Ok, I saw about 30 guys today that fit that description. Did he have blonde hair, brown hair, black hair? Light complexion, medium complexion or dark complexion. 4 foot 6 or 6 foot 4? 150 lbs. or 350 lbs?

Sounds like SGT. Barney Fife and reporter Jimmy Olsen worked on this.

It says 'black male'. What am I missing?

Hey! That's an insult to Barney Fife and Jimmy Olsen!

verakb: That wasn't mentioned in the original article, hence my and Egberts comments. Sill no mention of height weight. Bottom line, the reporting is lacking.

There may be another jewelry store but the only one that comes to mind for me is Ro Ma.

crappy reporting

name the store...Is it that hard? REALLY?

michaelmyers: Posted: February 21, 2014 8:25 a.m.

Black man with light facial hair.
Huh....
Am I the only one confussed by this?

But yes, the reporting on this is, as always, weak and reminiscent of a JR. High paper.

I applaud the Signal for hiring the "intellectual disabled" in this community as reporters.
