Special Olympics Southern California has scheduled a “Freezin’ for a Reason” Polar Plunge Saturday at Castaic Lake.

“Plungers” who raise $50 or more each for Special Olympics will brave the sub-50-degree waters of the lake or can sign up as “Too Chicken to Plunge” during the morning event at the Lower Lake. For those “Too Chicken,” a new “Chicken Coop” has been provided.

The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with registration and a Castaic Lions Club Pancake Breakfast followed by the adult plunge at 10 a.m. For the younger set, an inaugural “Cub Plunge” is set for Saturday at 9;30 a.m.

All funds raised go to help Special Olympic athletes in the Santa Clarita and Tr-Valley area.
