A collision on Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country on Tuesday injured one driver and caused a chain reaction of crashes.

The driver of the first car was turning right from Golden Oak Road to Soledad around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when the vehicle reportedly cut off another vehicle, which slammed into the first.

The impact sent the first car across the center divider and into oncoming traffic. The driver of a third car slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting the vehicle that had careened across the divider and was rear-ended by a fourth vehicle.

A short time later, a driver yielding to an ambulance that was responding to the first collision stopped his vehicle abruptly and was rear-ended by yet another car.

The driver of the first car was taken to the hospital and will be cited as an unlicensed driver, a deputy at the scene said. No other injuries were reported.

That is really an accident. It will really produce chain reaction since there are a lot of cars and sudden change in the line will make a reaction to the next in line.

I see this type of erratic driving all the time...people are always in a hurry to get where they want to go and never respectful of another drivers right to be in the place they are in. Its more like hey jack, My time is more valuable than yours so I am going to cut you off so you have to slam on your brakes to avoid hitting me, or they simply think they are smarter than everyone else when the truth is they are total morons to be so arrogant and believe driving is an anonymous thing to perpetrate...slow down and everyone will arrive to their destination in one piece...people won't learn until its too late and they are meeting St. Pete at the big traffic jam in the sky...unfortunately it ends up being the less experienced driver that suffers the most...

The car that came out Golden Oak jumped all 3 lanes to the left lane into the path of the black Honda thats on the tow truck in the picture. The black Honda had the green light. Only an unlicensed idiot would cause this type of accident. When you turn right onto another street you turn onto the right lane not jump all the way to the left lane where the cars are probably doing 50 to 55 MPH which is the average speed cars drive on Soledad. Its no wonder it was sent to the other side of the roadway. Hopefully the cops had the driver handcuffed to the hospital bed for the mess they caused. This driver is beyond screwed.

14forlife: Posted: February 5, 2014 6:38 a.m.

Sounds like something you see on Benny Hill!

Ricketzz, I've never seen a newspaper that tells you the names of drivers in car accidents, nor do I want to. It's nothing that needs to be made public, it's just an accident. I know I wouldn't want my name mentioned if I had a fender bender.

LosRubios: Posted: February 5, 2014 10:39 a.m.

@Ricketzz - just wait until Friday's signal when they update the Santa Clarita Sherriff's dept arrest log and it should have someone with a 'Driving without a license/suspended license'. If the arrest time is around 2pm on the 4th Feb, that's probably the person who caused all this.

Many drivers do struggle with finishing their turn in the proper lane.

My, My some posters do realize that Santa Clarita is a hazardous place to drive.

Speeding, not being courteous and tailing gating are the primary causes.

^ Let's add slow drivers in the passing lanes to that list. If you're not passing or about to turn (with your indicator flashing), move over!

Everything we all learned in kindergarten should apply to driving. Slow down, take your turn, be courteous and considerate. --edited.

An article should tell us who, what, where, why, how right? It's not just car wrecks, it's anything that might embarrass someone. You can't be an effective newspaper if you are afraid to embarrass people.
