A worker drilling near Lyons Avenue Thursday afternoon “inadvertently drilled through a high voltage, underground (Southern California) Edison power line,” a spokeswoman said, leading to a series of lane closures that will last through the weekend.

Early indications suggest the worker was not injured, according to city spokeswoman Gail Morgan.

“There was no explosion,” she said. “We are very lucky.”

The incident did force some lane closures in the area that will last through the weekend, according to city officials.

“Lane closures will be in effect on Lyons Avenue as follows, beginning immediately through Sunday, Feb. 2” reads a news release from the city.

The lanes affected by efforts to repair the damage are:
-Westbound left turn lanes on Lyons Avenue at Wheeler Road, Vermont Drive, Everett Drive and the entrance to the Vons Shopping Center just west of Fourl Road.
-Eastbound left turn lane on Lyons Avenue at Avenida Entrana
-Left lane on Lyons Avenue Between Wheeler Road and Wiley Canyon Road

There was no apparent loss of power from the incident as of 5 p.m. Thursday, according to Edison’s Power Outage website.
