SCV bike trails best in the West

I want to give big kudos to the Santa Clarita City Council past and present, the city manager and everyone involved in making the city bike/walking/running trails the fantastic network they are today.

I have lived in many places in the USA, most recently in Silicon Valley for two years, and no other city comes close to the quantity and quality of the trails we have.

They all think they are bike friendly, but not like the SCV.

I can do a 35-mile ride from my home in Valencia barely coming near cars and trucks. I can avoid the streets and make this ride long, challenging (Golden Valley Hill) and great fun — and also safe.

Additionally, the neighbors I see on the trail are friendly and share the trail with each other, say “hello” and wave.

Ask me the best part of living in the SCV and I will rave about the trails. And maybe Mom Can Cook.

Hey, City Council, gonna add more trails? Newhall Ranch Road underpass?

Why does it all suddenly stop at Lost Canyon Rd? Why doesn't it go to Shadow Pines and Stone Crest? (And then up Tick Canyon to Davenport!) Too close to the atomic billboards?

Agreed. Great system of bike paths out here. I am using them daily. And yeah, most of the others on the paths are friendly and will wave or give you a hello. The bike trails and paseos are the best features of this area.

What's "Mom Can Cook?"

Yes, great paths and paseos. Totally agree with features of the city. It is SO nice to be able to walk your dog, jog, or whatever in a nice outdoor area that is safe and not at all in vehicle traffic, not only for the safety aspect, but also for the peacefulness and beauty. I always enjoy the wildlife on the paseos. We have several coyotes, a bobcat (I've seen him twice), bunnies, and several types of beautiful birds of prey and birds in general that I often see while walking on the paseo in Valencia.

The bike paths and paseos are one of our favorite features of the community. They were a big plus in our decision to buy a home here. :-)
