Living in a sick world

A great Olympic champion, Bodie Miller, was brought to his knees in tears for millions to see because the NBC reporter kept asking about the recent death of his brother, even asking him what he saw when he looked up into the sky.

And NBC compounded the insensitivity by holding on a closeup of Miller sitting on the snow grieving.
They could have edited that part out, but left it in so the world could all enjoy his suffering.

Do we live in a sick world, or what?

He brought it up. The man obviously thought that was a good time to let go and get it all out. Why blame the reporter?

Bode said he had no problem with the line of questioning. It's the inspiration he brought to the games, so it's the story and he obliged. If this is the view of a sick world, maybe exposing yourself to actual atrocities may redefine your view.

I thought the incident was totally human - on all sides.

What's truly sick is how Obama and the media have completely ignored the religious persecution in Russia, but can't say enough about homosexuality at the Olympics.

CastaicClay: Posted: February 20, 2014 11:12 a.m.

What is truly sick is having to bash The President in every thread. Even if it is totally unrelated.

OldReliable: Posted: February 20, 2014 11:37 a.m.

Right on TRS. Any opportunity to hammer President Barack Hussein Obama should not be missed. And yes, the main stream media is lame!

therightstuff: Posted: February 20, 2014 5:48 p.m.

Hey Castaic, how about hypocrites who complain about what someone else is doing...and then does the same thing? Yes, truly sick.

My comment was completely related to "Living in a Sick World". Your comment was just another waste of space.

TRS. What can we do about internal matters in another sovereign country?

This is a weakness of borders. No freedom to vote with your feet. If people don't like their treatment somewhere they should be free to go somewhere else.

philellis: Posted: February 21, 2014 10:12 a.m.

Like Siberia?

I was referring to the US media coverage and comments by the White House. Much has been made of Russia's views on same-sex attraction during the Olympics. Meanwhile, NOTHING has been said about religious persecution in Russia by the media or the White House. That's crazy.

What's really sick is my son. Barfing all night last night.

philellis: Posted: February 21, 2014 2:13 p.m.

tpaul, don't let your son read any more posts from WIndy. Hopefully, he has a speedy recovery.

tpaul: Posted: February 21, 2014 2:46 p.m.

Smashed the lap top , he is up and around this afternoon>>> LOL

ricketzz: Posted: February 22, 2014 6:04 a.m.

Tell us about the religious persecution. Is it any worse than a hundred other countries? (The world would be 1,000 times easier to manage if it weren't for the primitive belief in the Supernatural enshrined in most backward countries).

therightstuff: Posted: February 22, 2014 9:33 a.m.

Sooooo....if other countries persecute people of faith, it makes it OK? It also sounds like your blaming people of faith for their own persecution. Very strange logic, ricketzz.
