Where was the anniversary of Sylmar quake?

I see no mention in the Feb. 9 issue of The Signal about the fact that the Sylmar quake happened on this date 43 years ago: Feb. 9, 1971.

I guess you little history buffs only go back as far as 2000, but there are a few of us old-timers here who would consider a major earthquake a little more significant than Dink’s Bagels at Metrolink!

Just sayin’!

That earthquake certainly was a huge event; surprised there was little if any news coverage.

This newspaper is three days late on breaking news, has the reporting and journalistic skills of a junior high school rag, they routinely copy and paste others work (AP wire) because they just don't have the talent or ability to write their own stories.

I guarantee they will cover Paul Walker's story for the next 30 years.....

Remember how Vons took all the food out of the damaged store and sold it in the parking lot? They created isles of food and you could write a check since no one had access to cash for days. I hope our local stores know what to do too. People will need food and water even if the power is out or stores are damaged.

Where was Vons in 1971?
