Skateboarder behaviors

How many more families are going to have their hearts broken by their young people going around with ear plugs on a skateboard or bicycle and not paying attention to the traffic lights at an intersection?

Where are their helmets? Sure, they are over 18 and not required by law to have one on, but the law is the same for everyone on a motorcycle.

WHAT makes them think they are indestructible?

And what about the driver who has to live with being the one that hit him?

About a month ago I came very close to hitting another skateboarder.

I was turning left with a green arrow into the parking lot by the Elephant Bar there on McBean Parkway. I was the second car to start to move to turn left when this blur came from my right out of nowhere.

I was fortunate enough to hit my brakes and somehow miss him. He lost balance a little and swerved into the intersection, regained his balance and kept going.

No helmet, but wearing ear plugs and a backpack.

Why must they live in a world of their own?

Don't worry. The cars will be gone soon enough.

No they won't, ricketzz. You'll watch the constantly evolving autos with envy as you ride the bus.
