LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 5-foot-long shark has died after being put in a pool at a Los Angeles home that was used for filming of a Kmart commercial.

The Los Angeles Times reports Thursday that a letter from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals was sent to the American Humane Association detailing the death. The incident was cited by a whistleblower who worked on the commercial.

The white-tipped shark died March 6 after being shipped from New York to Los Angeles. The shark was injected with adrenaline and received oxygen after it showed signs of stress. It was later removed from the pool and died that afternoon.

A Kmart spokesman told the newspaper that the incident was being investigated.
