POMONA, Calif. (AP) — Cal Poly Pomona officials say a student who lives off-campus may have become infected with tuberculosis, and anyone who had close contact with him should get tested.

Campus spokesman Tim Lynch says emails were sent Friday to nearly 400 students, faculty and staff telling them they may have been exposed. A more general email alerted the rest of the campus to the situation.

Free testing is available to students.

It hasn't been confirmed that the student has an active case, but he has withdrawn from classes this quarter and is receiving treatment with a good prognosis.

The unidentified student took classes in physics, engineering, computer science and ethnic and women's studies during fall and winter quarters.

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, is about 30 miles east of Los Angeles.
