GLENDORA (AP) — A wildfire in the San Gabriel Mountains northeast of Los Angeles has forced the evacuation of 200 people from a campground and recreational areas.

U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman L'Tanga Watson says the fire started Sunday afternoon in a canyon above the foothill community of Glendora.

It has burned about 400 acres, and is 5 percent contained.

Firefighters are battling the blaze in hot, dry weather. Watson said they are hampered by steep, rugged terrain.
