With a number of terms set to expire this summer, a collection of seats on Santa Clarita commissions are set to become open for application, according to city officials.

Santa Clarita City Council members voted Tuesday to declare vacancies on the city’s Planning Commission, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission, Arts Commission, and Open Space Preservation District Financial Accountability and Audit Panel.

A number of people serving on those bodies have terms that are set to expire on July 31.

Commissioners “serve at the will of the council for appointed terms of four years, unless a term is being filled due to an unscheduled vacancy,” according to a City Council agenda report.

The City Clerk will receive applications for positions on the commissions or the panel from May17 to June 13, according to the agenda report.

“Applicants may obtain an application from the City Clerk’s office or from the city’s website,” the agenda report reads.

Council members will submit their nominations to fill the vacancies on July 8. If ratified, “it is anticipated that the City Clerk will administer the oath of office to the newly appointed members at their next regularly scheduled meeting after July 31,” according to the agenda report.
