Men’s Wearhouse founder to keynote trade show

VIA is holding its annual B2B expo next week in Santa Clarita

The man who told millions of people “You’re going to like the way you look. I guarantee it,” Men’s Wearhouse founder, George Zimmer, is coming to Santa Clarita to speak at the Valley Industry Associations’ 2013 B2B industry expo luncheon on March 19.

Founder and executive chairman, Zimmer plans to share some of the secrets of his success since founding the popular menswear chain 40 years ago, a spokesman for VIA said. Founded in 1973, the men’s apparel chain has 1,144 stores and reported more than $1 billion in gross profit for the third quarter of 2012.

The day kicks off with a keynote luncheon at 11:30 a.m. and is followed by a trade show throughout the afternoon. VIA also plans to issue “B2B Passports” this year, giving out prizes to attendees who collect the most “stamps” from exhibitors. Prizes range from a night’s stay at the Hyatt to vital business services. A reception at 5:30 p.m. follows the trade show.

“More than ever, personal connections are one of the most vital foundational elements in a business relationship,” said Kathy Norris, VIA’s president. “The B2B show provides an atmosphere where professionals can make face-to-face connections and lay the groundwork for doing business together.”

Tickets for the B2B trade show are still available, she said. It will be held at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.

Deborah Grandinetti, of Valencia-based Payroll Providers, said that while she views the B2B shows as primarily a networking opportunity, she has always attracted new clients at the trade shows.

“My target is to reach other businesses in the SCV and develop long-term relationships,” Grandinetti said. “The B2B show has definitely allowed me to do that.
