The third annual Santa Clarita Economic and Real Estate Outlook conference is taking place Thursday, Feb. 21 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hyatt Regency Valencia.
Hosted by the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation and College of the Canyons, the 2013 conference is presenting an overview of economic issues affecting the future growth and success of a broad range of local industries.
The event includes presentations on the national and state economy as well as a forecast for the upcoming year focused on the Santa Clarita Valley and Northern Los Angeles County, said a spokesperson with the SCVEDC.
“It’s vital that our local businesses know what’s in store for both the local and regional economy in the short- and long-term future. Outlook provides business executives with a comprehensive snapshot of the upcoming year in an effort to better guide them in making educated decisions for their companies,” said Pete Bellas, Dean of Economic Development for COC.
Scheduled keynote speakers are Mark Schniepp, director, California Economic Forecast; Ryan Miller, California Legislative Analyst’s Office; and Bill Watkins, executive director, Center for Economic Research & Forecasting at Cal Lutheran.
Schniepp, in his third appearance at the economic conference, has specialized in focusing on the region for the SCVEDC, and is known throughout the state for his in-depth regional economic analysis and commentary. He also regularly prepares economic analysis and county level forecasts for many public and private entities.
“Our local economy is expected to perform better than almost all other California markets.” said Jonas Peterson, president/CEO of the SCVEDC. “We expect this trend of growth to continue and the Outlook is our chance to have leading economists share detailed projects on the future of our Valley.”Those registering for, and attending, the third annual economic outlook also receive a complimentary copy of the 2013 Santa Clarita Valley Economic Outlook report, as well as entry to a complimentary post-conference reception.
