Zone 5-Valencia had eighteen Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included burglary, grand theft of a vehicle, a vehicle burglary, and numerous petty thefts from various areas. A burglary occurred on the 24400 block of Town Center Drive between the hours of 10:00 pm and 10:45 pm. The victim left her purse unattended on chair. The suspect then entered the dining area of the restaurant and stole money from the victim’s purse. The suspect, a male white adult was arrested and also was in possession of a stolen item from Target. He was transported to the Santa Clarita Station and booked for burglary of the money and stolen Target item.

A grand theft vehicle was stolen from the 25700 block of Pajarito Court between the hours of 5:00 pm and 4:30 am. The vehicle, a 1986 Toyota truck, was stolen from the front of the victim’s residence. No witnesses or suspect(s) were identified in this incident.

A vehicle burglary occurred in 25000 blocks on Magic Mountain Parkway between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:30 am. The victim reported that the rear passenger windows had been smashed by an unknown object. Items stolen were a brief case containing miscellaneous paperwork and fire testing tools which were located on the backseat of the vehicles.

I urge everyone to please take careful steps to not become a victim. Be mindful of your surroundings and if possible park your vehicles in well-lit areas. Take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks.

Do not place items underneath vehicle seats or cover them with clothing apparel. Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle. Do not leave personal items unattended in public areas, such as restaurants, shopping carts or counter tops of businesses.

Bicycle theft is on the rise. Most victims have reported their bikes were locked at bike racks and that the locks/chains were cut off. Please use caution and be cognizant of your surroundings when securing your bicycles. Keep the serial number of your bicycle on file in the event that it is stolen to aid in its recovery. If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.

There were multiple arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included burglary, drunk in public, possession of narcotics and petty theft from local businesses.
