Oakland Athletic and Saugus graduate Tommy Milone works against the Toronto Blue Jays in the first inning on July 4 in Oakland.

Fox Sports is reporting that Saugus High graduate and Oakland A’s pitcher Tommy Milone has asked to be traded.

Milone was demoted to Triple-A Sacramento on July 5 after Oakland acquired Jeff Samardzija in a high-profile trade from the Chicago Cubs.

The 27-year-old Milone had been effective for Oakland this season, especially of late.

In his last 11 starts, he was 6-0 with a 2.62 ERA.

Overall the left-hander was 6-3 with a 3.55 ERA in 96 1/3 innings with a 1.215 WHIP.

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the A’s have received trade interest from other teams but prefer to keep him in the organization to provide more pitching depth.

Milone has been demoted three times since Aug. 3, 2013.

In the last two seasons with the A’s, he has an 18-12 record and 3.91 ERA.

Milone has made two starts in Sacramento and has allowed seven earned runs in nine innings (7.00 ERA).

He has pitched in each of the last four big league seasons and is 32-22 overall with a 3.84 ERA.
