Trinity Classical Academy promoted assistant Jeremy Haggerty to the position of varsity head boys basketball coach on Tuesday.

Haggerty takes over after serving the past season as an assistant under head coach John Brooks. This past season, Trinity won the CIF-Southern Section Division VI championship, a first in school history.

Before Trinity, Haggerty was an assistant basketball coach at West Ranch and Canyon high schools. He was a star player at Canyon High before graduating in 2002 and he later played at The Master’s College.

This is Haggerty’s first varsity head coaching job.

He inherits a team that has seen a lot of success in just four seasons of varsity play.

Brooks coached the team all four years, with the team going 69-33 overall and appearing in two straight CIF-SS divisional championship games. Trinity also made it to the CIF State Division V Championship tournament each of the last two seasons.
