Local sheriff’s detectives are carrying the “force” with them as they continue to search for burglars who broke into a garage and made off with half a dozen “Star Wars” lightsabers.
The “force” in this case is law enforcement and the crime in this case is a felony, Sgt. Ron Price who heads the Robbery Section of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, told The Signal Wednesday.
Asked if the suspects might be wearing hooded monk robes, Price said: “Highly unlikely.”
On Feb. 10, thieves broke into a garage on Rock Rose Lane, in Canyon Country, and stole six “Star Wars” lightsabers, believed to be valued at $1,800.
A lightsaber is the fictional energy sword featured in the popular Star Wars movies that – in the films – emits a muted buzzing sound whenever it strikes an object.
“Detectives are looking for the suspects,” Price said.
“Whether they’re $18 or $1,800, what makes this a felony is the break-in. Once you break into a residence to steal property, it’s a felony.”
Shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to reports of two burglary suspects seen on Fahren Court – near the garage where the lightsabers were stolen, however, Lt. Bryan Aguilera said he had no information to indicate the pair was suspected in the lightsabers theft.
Anyone with information about the suspects or the breakin is asked to call the sheriff’s station at 255-1121.
