‘Anne of Green Gables’ sings
The musical "Anne of Green Gables" opened at the Canyon Theatre Guild in Newhall this weekend, and for yours truly, viewing it on Sunday afternoon, it provided a sweet and charming finish to an exhausting weekend. From the opening ensemble number, where most of the cast members, younger and older, filled the stage with song, to the uplifting finish, I couldn't stop smiling.

At the risk of sounding clinical (no, we're not dishing out medical advice), we wanted to shed some new light on an old favorite: white wine. There has been a lot of interest and media attention over recent years about the health benefits of red wine, but not much has been written about the benefits of white. We're here to change that with some helpful information from published studies. But first, we'll review the health benefits of wine in general.
A ‘Journey’ into the soul
"Journey's End" opened at the Repertory East Playhouse in Newhall last Friday night, and I count myself as fortunate to have been there to experience it. Though it ran a bit long the first time out, I left the theater knowing it had been an evening well-spent because I had been both moved and enlightened during my own journey to a different time and place.

Brahms and Barber at COC
The Santa Clarita Master Chorale and The Master's College Collegiate Singers will present a Brahms and Barber concert March 25 at 3:30 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons. The "German Requiem," which is Brahms' best known composition for choir, will be a highlight. (Artistic Director Allan Robert Petker will present a pre-concert lecture at 2:30 p.m.)

Two Women on Wine: The love of sweet wines, Part Two
Part Two of a two-part series. In our last visit with you, we talked about sweet wines, such as Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Gewrtztraminer and Moscato d'Asti. In this segment we will discuss dessert wines, which, although sweet, fall into a different category. Typically these wines are higher in sugar and alcohol content. We're talking about fortified wines, late harvest and "noble rot" wines.
‘Snow White’ dances into Chandler
Ballet Preljocaj, a French cutting-edge dance company, will perform "Snow White" ("Blanche Neige") based on the Grimm Brothers' version of the fairy tale and set to Mahler symphonies at the Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on March 23, 24 and 25.
