Pfc. Rudy A. Acosta, of Santa Clarita, completed Army basic training Aug. 11, 2009, and was deployed to Afghanistan on June 10. He is the son of Dante and Carolyn Acosta and a 2009 graduate of Santa Clarita Christian School. He is a health care specialist and combat medic for Red Platoon/Killer Troop/Fourth Squadron/Stryker Cavalry Regiment.
