Old favorite restaurants

In these strained economic times it's not uncommon for a restaurant to appear - and then disappear before you get around to trying it out. And any restaurant that survives has to be hitting on all cylinders, especially with flavor, value and service. All of the "old favorite" restaurants listed here are following that recipe. Some have been doing it for a few years and others for many years. And though you probably have a few you might add to the list, here are some of the SCV's venerated dining establishments.

Fourth of July fun

The Fourth of July will be jam-packed with fun in the Santa Clarita Valley - as usual, starting with the Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast, and the Independence Day Classic Run, followed closely by the Santa Clarita Fourth of July Parade. The day will end with spectacular fireworks shows at three locations. If that is not enough, you can certainly move out to other holiday celebrations from Acton to the Hollywood Bowl, and amusement parks all around are bringing you special holiday activities.

Summer comes a rockin'

Summertime is outdoor music time in the Santa Clarita Valley. On Friday nights you've got both the Lexus of Valencia Jazz and Blues Concert Series and concerts at the Valencia Marketplace Amphitheater. On Saturday nights it's the larger events at Central Park and on Sundays you can chill out in Ventura Harbor Village. Even the Westfield Valencia Town Center will rock you on Tuesdays in July. Railfest 2011
