Guild seeks Silver Rose debs

High school seniors are invited to apply for 2008-2009 Henry Mayo Guild Silver Rose Debutante Program. ‘I was at Oaks, man!’

Once your eyes adjusted, the wall of darkness defined itself into massive black oak trees supporting an off-black Saturday night sky. Viewed from a distance, the bright and colorful glow beneath and between those oaks seemed magical - as if you'd stumbled onto the forest elves partying in "The Hobbit."

Golfing for kids

While local realtors played a round of golf to benefit the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, the Michael Hoefflin Foundation hosted its own charity golf tournament Monday at The Players Club in Valencia to benefit pediatric cancer.

The 9th Annual Golf Classic and Auction, a favorite among local golfers, included several competitions, including the longest drive, closest to the pin and a putting contest.

Chip shot for home-delivered meals

The Southland Regional Association of Realtors, Santa Clarita Valley Division and the American Golf Association hosted a golf tournament earlier this week to prevent a local senior citizen foundation from retiring its meal delivery program.

The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, located in Newhall, prides itself on delivering meals to homebound seniors who rely upon the center's Home-Delivered Meals program to receive possibly the only hot meal they will eat all day.

Select Cities Soccer Club makes the kindest cut of all

The local Select Cities Soccer Club recently donated ponytails to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, which was created to bring people together to donate their beautiful, healthy hair to create free wigs for women and girls who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments. Each wig requires six ponytails.
