For about 20 years, Scott Basolo worked as a structural engineer in what he called the "professional world." Living in Idaho, Basolo served as a youth director for his church, until, at one point, he said he heard the Lord's calling.

Putting their faith to work
It has been more than a month since Jeffrey Gilbert and the members of his men's group at First Presbyterian Church of Newhall have returned from building a home in Tijuana for a poor family, but Gilbert still can't find the words to describe his experience. "Fun isn't quite the right word," the Canyon Country resident said. "But I can't think of the correct word. It felt right and good doing it."

Bouquet Canyon Church turns 40
Susie Bastidas remembers sometime in the early 1970s when construction began on Bouquet Canyon Church. "I was probably around four," said Bastidas, now the children's ministry director of the Saugus church. "Our job was to go around and smash all the bugs that were sticking to the paint."

Grace Baptist's new pastor hopes to make youngsters 'world conscious'
Just two months into his new position as pastor of student life at Grace Baptist Church, R.J. Holt already has big plans for the Saugus church's youth ministry and its junior high and high school students. "Grace would be a place to show God's love to the community and people outside the church," Holt said.
