The Saugus High School Competition Cheer Team took second place in a USA Regional competition held Jan. 24 in Agoura Hills. The team's score qualified them for Nationals, which will be held in Anaheim at the end of March.

The newly founded Santa Clarita Valley Single Mothers Group celebrated its first year with a holiday party held at a private clubhouse in December. The event attracted 50 single mothers and their children.

Despite a harsh economy, Six Flags Magic Mountain and the Boy & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, made the holiday season much merrier for the children in Southern California.
